What You Forget on Your Wedding Day — But Shouldn’t!

Your wedding day is one of the most exciting and emotional days of your life. In between the final dress fittings, flower deliveries and hair appointments, it’s easy for a few small (but important) things to slip your mind.

At Balyce Weddings & Events, we’ve seen it all — and we’re here to make sure you don’t forget a thing. Here’s our list of often-overlooked details that brides and grooms tend to forget on their wedding day, but absolutely shouldn’t!

1. Eating Breakfast

It might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised how many couples forget to fuel up on the morning of their wedding. Between hair, makeup, nerves and excitement, breakfast can easily be skipped — and trust us, you’ll need the energy.

Tip: Plan a light, protein-packed breakfast or grazing platter for you and your bridal party while you’re getting ready.

2. Having a Wet Weather Plan

Even in sunny seasons, weather can be unpredictable — especially here on the beautiful Mid North Coast. Having a wet weather plan isn’t about expecting the worst, it’s about protecting your peace of mind.

Tip: Make sure your venue and suppliers are aware of your backup plan, and have clear timings for when a decision needs to be made.

3. Bringing an Emergency Kit

A wedding day emergency kit is a lifesaver. Think blister pads, safety pins, fashion tape, pain relief, mints, tissues, a mini sewing kit, deodorant, and stain remover. It’s better to have it and not need it, than the other way around.

Tip: Nominate a bridesmaid or your planner to keep it on hand.

4. Allowing Enough Time for Everything

Weddings rarely run exactly to time, and that’s okay. But many couples underestimate how long things like getting dressed, photos, and travel can take.

Tip: Build extra buffer time into your run sheet — even 10–15 minutes between key events can make a huge difference to your stress levels.

5. Soaking in the Moment

Amongst the whirlwind of schedules and speeches, it’s easy to forget to pause and be present. Your wedding day goes by in a flash, and it’s the little in-between moments you’ll cherish most.

Tip: Take five minutes alone as a couple after your ceremony, before joining your guests. It’s a beautiful chance to connect and let the reality of the moment sink in.

6. Having a Copy of the Run Sheet on the Day

It’s one thing to create a wedding day timeline — it’s another to make sure you (or your coordinator) have it on hand! A printed or digital run sheet ensures everyone’s on the same page and helps the day flow smoothly.

Tip: Give copies to your photographer, celebrant, MC, and key family members.

7. Comfortable Shoes for Later

Even the most glamorous heels will start to pinch after a few hours. You don’t want sore feet stopping you from enjoying the dance floor.

Tip: Pack a pair of stylish flats, sandals or sneakers to slip into for the reception.

Your wedding day should be filled with joy, not avoidable stress. By taking care of these easy-to-forget details, you’ll give yourself the freedom to truly soak in every beautiful moment.
